Once again Caroline Lee has struck magic! I fell in love with the town of Everland as well as all the characters in this book. There are definite surprises along with hardships and pain. Can a terribly scarred and blind man truly find lasting happiness? Can he really fight in the Civil War and then walk away from someone that means the world to him? Can a twice widowed woman, who also is a young mother, find happiness again? Do the “rules” her second husband instilled in her maintain their rigidity? This was a book I didn’t want to end and one that I had a horrible time putting down. From young to old this town meets the needs of their residents. It doesn’t matter if they are happy or sad, young or old; the people are always there with a lending hand. As I read this book, I could almost hear the sounds of music and plants and humans breathing! Talk about a fantastic author weaving her storyline! This is a definite MUST read book for all ages.Tags : Beauty: an Everland Ever After Tale - Kindle edition by Caroline Lee. Download it once and read it on your Kindle device, PC, phones or tablets. Beauty an Everland Ever After Tale edition by Caroline Lee Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
I would rather read than watch television. I wish these "fairy tale" books were not so high in price, $9.99. I would have preferred to buy the book itself than the book. This was a wonderful book. I truly enjoyed it. It had a message about accepting yourself the way you are. It was a wonderful story of lost love and finding love again when you never thought you would. The ending was the kind that found me so surprised at how the author had thought to weave it all together. I hope the other reviewers don't give the ending away, because it is the best part of the book.
If you like an easy reading love story, this is the book for you. Wonderfully written, I couldn't put it down when I got close to the end it was so good. I would highly recommend it.
I received this book free from one of my email subscriptions.
Another re-imagined fairy tale although this one had enough recognizable elements of Beauty and the Beast, it was more original than the last one of Ms. Lee's that I read although I enjoyed them both. Again, this one is very clean. There were a few descriptions of memories, but the most graphic the storey for was a memory of touching her, and even that wasn't very descriptive. There was a kiss that was well described, but overall, the story was clean and good.
I could only take listening to Arabella whine about how worthless she was because she wasn't beautiful anymore so many times. Also her idea that she was "old" when she was barely past thirty--yep, you're a crone, get in the grave already.
I know her attitudes are meant to be warped by her second husband and his impossible standards, I get it. But it's tiresome to watch her vague attempts to unlearn those attitudes, and I'm not sure she actually succeeds all that well. It's weird that the one thing I actually truly liked about this was the way the second-chance romance ending played out you're not the same person you were when I loved you then, but neither am I, and we fell in love again as who we are now. Honestly, I think that's beautiful, and something the second-chance-romance sub-genre could take to heart. But as lovely as that sentiment is, I don't feel like it's attached to a story line that deserves it. There's not much conflict aside from Arabella's and Vincenzo's prejudices about beauty and its relative worth; the external conflict amounts to some easily ignored nonsense about small-town propriety. It's shallow, unsubtle, and ultimately a poor reimagination of Beauty and the Beast.
This is a beautiful twist on an old fairy tale. A mother and her son are on their own after years of being controlled by Arabella’s second husband. Her son Eddie is now growing into adulthood, finding his own way, and driving his mother crazy. Still hovering under the shadow of her late husband’s social and moral rules, they are learning who they are and wondering about the future. Arabella was always to look beautiful, mind her manners, and avoid social gossip and enigmas.
But the young widowed mother now faces financial difficulty.
The bookstore is not successful enough to pay the bills, so she decides to rent out the upstairs apartment and move into the storeroom inside the business. Life never stops throwing another challenge her way.
Enter beastly Vincenzo. He is horribly disfigured from the war, yet a talented violinist. He also has self doubts and prefers to face them alone, remaining secluded and away from prying eyes. But as he comes to love this struggling mother and son duo, he worries that he is not a fit companion for either.
This is a book about how life shapes us, our views of the world, and those around us. A story of redemption and second chances—a story of love.
This is my first book by Caroline Lee and won’t be my last. She creates loving, real characters that steal your heart and stay in the back of your mind long after The End.
This was my first Caroline Miller book to read, and it sure didn't disappoint! I enjoyed getting to know the town and the people in it. I loved how the characters developed, and I caught myself crying, rooting for them, and laughing aloud as I read this story. The details and description made it easy to jump right in and see the garden, and feel the music, and be part of this story. There were just enough twists to keep it interesting, and made me keep wanting more. I love that the ending doesn't leave you hanging. I will definitely be checking out more books by this author. I encourage you to try this one yourself about a twice-widowed woman with a ten year old son that befriends the mysterious new resident of the town when he agrees to teach her son how to play the violin if she would in exchange read to him as he is blind. Each of them have obstacles to overcome, can they? Will they let fear stand in the way? I really enjoyed a different kind of story line then most and applaud the author for brining this one to life.
